I didn't notice the spliced leads and I don't have a crossover here to compare with at present but aren't the woofer leads going the same place electrically on both crossovers ? Looks as if the lead was spliced simply because it was otherwise too short, I'm sure you can see it better than I. Yes, much easier done than said and bathtub

Do a little search and you'll find a lot more info. The faults are pretty much the same in 90% of the cases. Caps, tachodisc and solderjoints count for the majority. Martin

Nice project ! The woofer was changed in production from s/n 1442001 and the tweeter can be one of two types. The crossover is seen in several different versions accordingly, the capacitor kit you ordered, covers this. One crossover seems to have been repaired (a couple of new caps) but otherwise they look identical. You really should glue the magnet

A replacement rectifier valve provided a voltage much nearer to that mentioned in the service sheet but the set remained silent. If the volume was turned way up, a "pleasant" humming could be heard but nothing else on any waveband. A buzzing sound could be heard if the control grid of the output valve was touched with a screwdriver. This was

There can be many reasons for the high voltage to remain low. - The output valve drawing a too high current is a typical fault, often caused by a leaking grid coupling capacitor. The capacitor in this set is a green Philips type. It measured fine when tested with a meter and it is of a type that I usually find very reliable. It will, nonetheless, be

Yes, plus a lot of buyers that will simply buy something from a random seller and then "arrange" a damaged item to get a refund. - Or actually two refunds - Plus the item (unless Ebay tells the buyer to return it) http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/buyer-protection-faq.html I understand that buyers need some protection from sellers decribing their

Nice work on the glass panel ! What type of primer are you planning to use on the metal cover ? Not all paints will work particularly well on aluminum without an oxide primer. (And where's that antistatic mat, you ordered ? ) Martin

So now Ebay has copied Paypals user agreement with regards to buyer protection. If an item gets damaged in shipping, the buyer can report to Ebay and get his money back from the seller (who is forced to pay through his Paypal/Creditcard/Ebay seller account). That is regardless of the payment method chosen and who's fault the damage was. The seller

What a nice and classic system ! Not a bad price either and it looks to be in good condition. I've seen the furnitures go for that alone. Martin

Don't get me wrong. I am not looking for work, I have lots of it everyday. It just hurts my poor old heart when I see what sometimes arrives here, knowing what it could have been. And I'm sure that many DIY'ers are succesful with what they do, I obviously only hear from the not quite so succesful ones. The flexible part sounds good but I
