Excellent stuff! A couple of detailed photos on mechanical parts are often a much better practical reference than the blowup diagrams from service manuals. A couple of hints on desoldering: Those hand operated pumps can be very handy as long as you have a well working model. It often helps if you apply a little fresh solder and melt the joint through

Yes, Vishay bought out BC in 2002 I think, and the current name for this product line is Vishay 138 AML (axial miniature long-life aluminum electrolytic capacitors). I bought them from Digikey a couple of years back, and can confirm they have worked in every B&O CD I have repaired (except for the one where some previous butch...erm repairperson

Merry Christmas from Amsterdam and a cry for help from The Netherlands. We are snowing in and our country is running out of salt! Help us! The trains are all messed up. The roads slippery. We can't handle this type of weather. Could some scandinavians come over and show our country

I had a festive picture prepared for you, but the power supply of my work computer gave up and I couldn't be bothered to do anything about it right now. Won't take a new pic as I suppose everybody in Europe is fed up with snowy scenes already... so you'll need to do with this one from last year Hyvää joulua ja onnellista uutta
Boil it down to basics, and all luxury products - and indeed most stuff sold for its "design" - are ripoffs. They

Nothing beats the advice from people who actually own the kit in question! Hope that works for you as well, kimchr

Unfortunately I don't think it's possible... Apart from closing the tray when you select the source, I believe no B&O products ever facilitated operating a tray over the remote. If you leave the tray open, won't it close by itself if you just wait a while?
One of the reasons B&O will be having the BS8 made in China will be the availability of companies to do it.
I first misread your sentence above - and in that incorrect form it gave another reason: availability of components . Industries like mobile phones are now ramping up production at such pace that

Hi Elmar, sorry that nobody has answered to you before - it may be an oddball problem that no-one else has had or your post may have just slipped past anybody who might know. Anyway, to me it sounds like the frame of the cloth is somehow loose - the bass drivers might have problems, but it would be unlikely to be cured by you pressing on the frame.
