The trouble with 2.6 is that it doesn't handle all DVDs. Some carry some sort of exxtra protection by adding so zalled "zero cells" which throw most ripping programs off. I believe the current handbrake version can do 5.1 and if you set the quality high enough it might be a good alternative. And there is no jumping through hoops involved

I think I figured it out. First I connected the speakers to the BC2. Then the AV was suddenly working. However I had to push additional AV Source to activate the Beolab 3s when watching TV. The Speaker 1 2 3 modes were not working though and I wasn't able to control the internal speaker of the BV8 anymore. Listening to CD and Radio while watching

The BC on ebay typically go for around 2500$. Thing is when they show up (rare) they are usually MK1 and those are very funny to operate. There was a minor upgrade to the head unit done recently, it gives now audible feedback when you push a button.
