My first reaction, when I first saw the spec's for the iPod Touch and the iPhone, was that these were the finest remotes ever built, where telephony/mp3 playback was actually secondary. Then I put Remote Buddy on my Mac mini, and began using my Touch to control my media playback throughout the apartment. Put up a thread about that last year. When

I may be missing something, but when I tried something similar (PL to BL5 from one B&O unit; s/pdif to BL5 from another), I did not get PL control of tone and balance on the BL5s. In fact, the setup didn't "understand" what I was trying to do. I read your answer as dealing with output from the BeoSound 9000 alone - while the OP wants

Alex: The speakers will be controlled via PowerLink if kkgd0298 connects the digital connection from his BeoSound 9000. Does that depend upon how it's set up? I gathered he had Powerlink from the BV7 to the BL5s, and wanted to run the digital s/pdif from the BeoSound 9000 to the BL5s, and then just have the digital override switch to that when detected

Jandyt: Like Alex said, a good speaker can sound worse than a bad one if placed badly. You would get more pleasure having a pair of Beolab 3s strapped to your head whilst sitting outside on your jetty (ask Soundproof) than a pair of Beolab 5s in each corner of a field. Alex, do you like Beolab 5s? He-he! A nice memory!

Razlaw: The answer is probably too technical for me to understand, but why will they sound better connected to the BV7 than to the Avant? If not, then BeoSystem 3 is a really dud product. BV7 MKIII comes with BeoSystem 3, which is a quite sophisticated audio processor, capable of dealing with high-resolution audio. (32-bit capable).

I've never had any trouble with the sound jumping up or down when I adjust the volume. Quite ingeniously, the loudspeakers adjust by exactly 1dB with each press of the up or down arrow on my Beo4. One tip, since in s/pdif coax mode you won't have the powerlink control of the speakers and the synchronisation cable doesn't do much that I've

moxxey: I think the speakers sound better connected to the TV due to my placement, whilst listening to the tracks. The TV/speakers are pointed to the sofa and, when sitting, I'm only about 40 cm higher than the BL9's. However, I'm either standing or at a 90 degrees angle when listening to the BeoSound 4. Ah, that would explain quite a bit

Check your speaker configuration, as mentioned above, and your bass/treble settings. You should also ensure that the perceived volume is the same (not the number shown by the tv or BS4, but the actual sound produced.) I'd be surprised to hear a significant difference ...

Pushing BeoSystem 3 is OK, but the original question was: How do I set up Beo Lab 5 & Beo Sound 9000? Is there any special set up is required? Without boe system 3 do you think that I can get out the best of beo lab 5. And the answer is: no BeoSystem 3 is required.
-
Welcome, The BeoSystem 3 is not required to get the best from your proposed setup. In fact, one could argue that it would reduce the quality of the sound you can get. That depends upon whether you accept B&O's claim that the sound through Powerlink from the BeoSystem 3 is as good as the sound through coax s/pdif (digital) from your BeoSound
