I hadn't thought about it, but yes the platter must be on or they go a bit mad. My non B&O induction turntable used to go into warp speed...
-
I have also heard that B&O was surprised that most of the purchases of Beosound 5 thus far was from owners of Apple computers.
Let's hope this inspires B&O to be equally open to Mac/PC... That in itself would be a big help.

That cracked PCB might have something to do with it Ok not directly, as that board is only for TAPE2 and the pre-amp in/out, but as you have wires off and a cracked board just above where all the output transistors are....it points to damage elsewhere. I've got 2 7700's in pieces at the moment, so if you need some spares PM me.
yes, i was quite happy seeing the platter turning again .
I bet!
changing the transistor for the cpu reset didn´t change anything, perhaps i´ll have a closer look to the brake-circuit,as it feels abit like the platter wants to spinn and brake at the same time or alternating
It appears as though the .m4a container / Apple lossless codec is available for download here for the Windows platform. I'll play around and see if it works. It has appeared so far that any codec installed on the underlying OS adds support in the program itself. That would mean with some minor "modding"
<snip> i'll die before i buy non B&O consumer electronics.
Such brand loyalty is admirable, and should earn you a trip round Struer! I'm not that faithful however, and while I'd have B&O given the choice, I'd only do this where their products were "better": If comparing 2

Hi Jens It sounds like it isn't coils then, which is good news. Time to look elsewhere... Good luck!
-
Valid point - Foster and Fostex are essentially the same company and confirmed suppliers of B&O's drivers...that's a good thing! Although it will require some digging, I believe I'm onto something! I'll be measuring the exact thiele-small over the next few days though
If these turn out to

I had a (non B&O) inductive drive turntable, and the insulation on one of the coils disintegrated with age - the symptoms were as you describe.
It will be interesting to see how much "universal" compatibilty each manufacturer offers, if any. Potentially full, cross platform, home automation could be offered by everyone (who has signed up to the consortium).
It has been promised many times ( HaVI etc) but never seems to fruit
