Dear Joe, First get the service manual and then the repair guide I have written about replacing capacitors on the MX-5000. Both are on the Connoisseur Club of this site. About 50 to 100 capacitors scattered over three PC boards may have to be replaced. So have a spare TV ready when you will do the repair as it may took time. All the boards are accessible

Hi Joe, These problems are caused by bad electrolytic capacitors. The solution is simple but tedious: Replace ALL black electrolytic capacitors of Rubycon brand in the set . They will eventually all fail. I have written a repair guide for the MX-5000 and it is on the Connoisseur Club if you can do the repair yourself! If you are not familiar with electronics

steph: Does BeoCenter2 read DVD-R or only CD-R ? I know it reads DVD Video, Audio CD and Mp3 CD but can we burn our audio tracks in Mp3 format on a DVD-R and read it in the BeoCenter ? ...And I am waiting for a recorder in either format. Currently, there are no easy ways to record and archive high definition material. When I will get my BV-7, I will certainly want to archive interesting high definition TV programs. But stand-alone recorders are still available only in Japan. Jean Vezina

I have made some tests with the Beovision 7 demo unit at the store (still marked as an early sample) using a Hi-8 camcorder connected to the S-Video socket and deinterlacing was excellent. The scan lines were absent on the screen. The test repeated with the composite output of the camera yields similar results. I have repeated the same test on cheap
