not sure thats true.... consider some of the high end designs with no EQ, minimal connections and a very short, "clean" signal path. The cost of many of these very expensive products ( aside from dealer margin and purchase tax) is in the case materials, the labour and the cost of sourcing/matching high grade audio components. Brands like Naim

This is a shame if true - I met Julian at a number of conferences and dealer events, and he always struck me as a decent bloke. Best wishes to all involved.

A very good post from John. I spent over 12 years setting up and installing Linn and Naim systems, followed by 15 years in the B&O distribution ( from installer - shop manager - Dealer Principal) but have now stood down from 'active service' to return to education in Sept. I knw both sectors well, from the inside as well as being a 'user'

I agree with Trip ( had to happen eventually ) I also think Blab4000 are, on balance, the best small active speaker for most installations - perhaps not as techy as Blab 3's but they always sound superb ( particularly Mk1's ) and seem to blend in with most styles of decor. I have installed them into cottages, lofts and everything in between

Trip, In the UK not too long ago, anything with the "B" word on it was frowned upon - a lot. Up to and including not honouringa warranty repair if anything from B was used in the install - PL, ML, connectors etc etc. Not sure if that is still the case, having stepped back from the front line, but there was a LOT of hostility to Bosscom a couple
... to some extent - YES The reason is: B&O is no longer able to produce new drivers, they are running out of stock, they need the old magnet and
a $20 multisocket with nothing inside it that will do much!
Indeed - a few pence worth of components that do little good in many / most cases, but can double the retail cost of a 4 way block... however, like Opman I have a few years experience dealing with insureres on behalf of customers, and I recall at least

This also strikes me as a fine way of giving older kit a new lease of life - or just as part of a redecoration. Is there a guide price available per model / item ? Would be interested to know how much ( +/- 10% ) for a Beolab 6000 and Beolab 4000.

In fairness, the later BV4 has the unique B&O set up technology. However, the earlier versions of BV4 were just as some have described, and really not too far from what the OP wanted to do - a Bsys 2 and early B&O BV4 would be almost identical to a bsys 2 and a panasonic panel. What Trip perceived as my defense of the OP ( which it wasn't
