Room acoustics if anything play a bigger role in the sound of a system than the actual system itself. A £700 separates system in a room with fantastic acoustics will sound better than a £50,000 system in a room with poor acoustics, possibly even more than that.

I can't see B&O ever doing Virtual surround sound - it's fake - and sounds it. If you want sound to come from behind you, you'll need a speaker behind you.

The BeoMaster 6500 will do everything the 7000 does except you can't get Radio RDS information up on a screen of a BeoLink 7000 remote. If you don't use/want/need either, you'll be fine. I use a BeoMaster 6500 with my CD7000. The 6500 and 7000 are about as close to identical as it is possible to get.

soundproof: Aja, from Aja by Steely Dan, on my Beogram 4000 & Beolab 5000. And I'm enjoying it. Excellent album, and brilliantly recorded too. Was listening to it on BeoLab 9s not that long ago - what a stunning pair of speakers.
