The BeoVision 7 MkIII has power management features. I've found that if peripherals are coming out of sync, it's generally because those power management settings are incorrect. It is true that the Beo 5 will offer you more flexibility, but you shouldn't need it just to keep the boxes in sync.

I use the same setup and it works great. I do, however, do things a bit differently than is recommended. The iTunes plugin creates a script that copies the music to the BeoMedia manually. I do not use that. I don't want duplicate files roaming around. (Some might, so don't take this as the best option necessarily). I setup iTunes to locate the

The dealer is likely charging for labor. We usually offer complimentary software updates within the warranty period and then at an hourly rate subsequently. The cost you were quoted seems a bit on the high side, but it could also depend on your distance to the dealer. I would bet that if you took your BeoSystem 1 in to the shop they would update it

Pictures take up significantly less space than music. So after some quick math, you can store about 60 high quality photos for every 1 song. So at an average of 10 songs per album and 6,500 albums worth of space, you would have room for many many photos without asymptotically approaching a full hard drive. In fact, if you were to reduce your album collection

Most of our cables come from CZ now, however I've also experienced about 3-5 day lead times on these. Of course that's under normal circumstances. Anything can go on backorder in any country.

This is an LCD? I've seen DVDs that play full white and essentially burn in a lack of burn in. I think they may only work on plasmas. Googlize it.

I checked in on my own music collection. Mostly recorded at 320kbs with a few lossless. 36 gigabytes. I could start playing music and it would play for about 20 days before having to repeat. I could, in fact, increase the size of my music collection by 13 times for a total of 6,500 albums before I'd run out of space on the BeoMaster 5. So I guess

This totally depends on your listening habits. If at this point you have already migrated mostly to digital music, you might well enjoy the BeoSound 5. If you still listen primarily to CDs and can't quite imagine the thought of discarding them, then attaching a BeoPort might be just enough digital music in your life. Either way, both audio systems

Classic Sony. You here about the "features" and it sounds great. Then you look at it and hold it in your hand and it's a huge disappointment. It's been eight years now and they just can't make a useful competitor to the Zune let alone the iPod.

You're right, Phil. This really started with the BeoCenter 2 a few years back. Due to its integrated DVD function, many clients purchased it to sit in the same room with a 9000. Thanks to option programming it was not a problem. With the BeoSound 5 there's even less conflict as none of the on-board sources overlap.
