OK, time to realign this thing, then. With an AM set like this, it's not very hard to reach a good alignment, even by ear. Basically, what you do is tune in to a good clean station and simply adjust the IF coils for maximum volume. This set has two sets of coils to adjust. It turned out, that even the coil(s) I adjusted earlier could be set better

One exactly like this - only upside down ! Martin

A bit low on the voltage rating. A kit with lamps of correct voltage and wattage exists but if it works it's probably fine as-is. Martin

Suitable "rabbit ears" aerials were available. Rare to find today. Martin

Well, that depends on how skilled you are with electronics. I would check the second AF transistor as the first thing. - Then the first as the second - (err.. did that make sense ?) Or simply replace both. BF450 is a good substitute (Yes, I know it's a silicium device but it works fine in this position). The original AF 116/117 tend to develop internal

Craig, Sounds wonderful ! It should work fine without the display since the display is merely a serial device receiving data from the processor. You have a PM. Martin

It could be a problem with the crossover filter too. The capacitors dry out with age. A capacitor kit exists for this model and I may be able to help you to a good used original midrange driver. Martin

Sounds like a dead AF transistor. Is it dead on all wavebands ? Martin

I am looking for the 4-digit red LED display for a Beomaster 3500/4500. Either the discrete display (component), a whole board or a whole machine. Will of course pay (or trade) for the part and postage. Martin

The CDX and the speakers will of course add to the value but in my opinion the Beocenter 4000 is not THAT bad. Besides, it's the only dual-cassette from B&O. Martin
