I guess this is how different religions started - I'll not knock him as you are obviously a fan, let's just say I would rather fix pickled onions to my eyeballs with cocktail sticks than have to see him live
Agreed!

Sorry to keep replying to your threads! A 5000/5500/6500/7000 stacking system would take up a small amount of space, and some CX50s or 100s would be similarly compact. I guess it depends on what source you're planning on using? Do you have to have a record deck and cassette deck? If not, then you could pick from one of many older Beomasters and

Thanks Chris I really like bass, but it has to sound natural and I've heard setups before where a sub has been used and it has been overpowering. The place we're thinking of moving to has a living space with an open-plan double-height aspect, and is about twice as big as our current living room, so I expect that the space itself can 'take'

Chris - were you running the Pentas from the Cona in this setup, thus using the crossover in the Cona to decide what went to the Pentas? I just wonder whether the Cona would add anything or take anything away from the Pentas???

Really interesting thread - please keep us posted :)
Not an option I'm afraid - tidy cable runs and a lack of spare cabling and DIN plugs mean that the only way I'll get the opportunity to try is when I move, hence my

Each to their own I suppose. The way I look at it is that the Beomaster 8000 was a top-of-the-line product that was meant to be used in large spaces and had to be capable of playing at high listening volumes without distortion if required. I have a large living room, and I like listening to music at high volumes on occasions, so I use Beovox Pentas

Good luck David - keep on searching on eBay and I'm sure one will turn up! Teak seems to be more desirable - I think it has something to do with the fact that this wood fits into contemporary interiors easier than rosewood. A few teak Compacts I've seen over the years have been advertised as sideboards first, and radiograms second.

I may be wrong, but I thought Chris (medogsfat) uses a Cona with Pentas. Cheers Nigel PS John - I'll give Tim a call tomorrow.
Nigel you are correct. Chris does or at least did have a Cona and Beovox Penta's. It sounded very good from what I can remember. Listened to Wish
