I agree that it sounds like a centering problem - I would be tempted to simply replace the unit. The BM2000 issue sounds as though a kit from Dillen is required but I would not be able to manage to do this myself and you may feel the same. An electronic TV repair shop might give you a decent quote - certainly cheaper than B&O.

The best would probably be something like an LX2802 or 2502.

Afraid you have stumbled over a B&O oddity. The Beocenter 2000 was actually a Japanese built music center with very little B&O content at all. The best part of it is the record player which is based on a B&O deck and the cartridge should be a MMC20S. If this is in good condition, the cartridge is worth up to £50 on eBay, though £25

You need a record on it for it to spin properly. However if it really did nothing, there may be an electrical problem.

The DVD1 needs a TV set with Datalink to work by remote. There is no IR receiver in it. You need a Beolink 1000 or Beo4 but you also need the TV!

I still use tape - I have a 5500 now - the 9000 was exceptional but not as convenient. It is very useful for timer recordings though Listen Again on the BBC has probably superseded it. My 9000 now has a new owner and I hope he got the MA-XG tape I sent with it!

The CDX does indeed have a very pleasant sound - it is often described as sounding analogue. I agree - slightly warm and fuzzy in some ways but very easy to listen to. I use mine with my Beolab 5000 system and it performs very well!
-
The only way to do this would be to utilise the SP/MMC adapter which allows you to use an MMC20 cartridge in something like a Beogram 3000 instead of an SP12. The principles are the same in each type of cartridge but each gets smaller. My favourite is still the MMC20CL - soundproof is finishing another cartridge comparison any time!

I see the issue! They have just upgraded the software this weekend! Software build 109b allows use of the beolink converter . The have also added a game mode and a DTV play timer - all improvements worth having.

I'll send you something when I get home!!
