You can make one - I think one of our members has done so. However a small external one will probably be much easier - you can get datalink to work using a separate wire.

The 170W is what it will consume at full power. So if you imagine it producing 60W of power, and imagine the heat it produces (Class AB produce a fair amount of heat!) and the other little bits (lights etc), it soon adds up! It will drive most speakers well though - you only use a couple of watts most of the time !

You need a very small screwdriver. Pins 6 and 7 unscrew - you will notice they have a small slot in the end of them. Chris has a good suggestion in that you should tape them to the lead once unscrewed.

But the features of the VX5000 are what attract! This is one of a very few elite VCRs that really do have an immense portfolio of features. Well I suppose an MX3000 or MX5000 would be the choices. I wouldn't touch a 3000 with a barge pole though so maybe a 3500 - this might not work properly though as it was designed to go with the VX5500 and the P-i-P module was designed to be in the TV. I have a VX5000 and it does not work very well with the LX6000 I have for just this reason. The
