With a record on the deck and the carriage moved to the centre of the turntable you adjust for a 3mm gap between the record and the turntable surround. The figure is not set in stone but you should not need to be very far off that. Let me know if you still get the noise as there is another source of scraping that I discovered quite recently!!!

As far as I am aware it only works on early BV1 and BC1 and it is not possible to re-configure it.

Wall mounts for RL140's are very rare. The only practical source would be eBay and I have only seen a couple of sets on there in 5 years or so. There is a drawing in the service manual iirc.

Same problem with the 5500 as that has the built in riaa on the phono input.
-
I send them "i nternational signed for" from the UK. I did have a packet containing several broken cartridges go from the UK to Germany via ...........Australia !!!!!!
-
It is easy to bypass the riaa in the deck without being too much of a technician then swop the datalink connections in the din plug.

You are trying hard Andy but I don't see anything to get excited about in this product. I might find some use for it as a garden dibber (device for making holes to plant seedlings in). It is a joke product which will end up being nothing more than a corporate gift which goes straight back in the box, never to see the light of day again.

Whatever you spend on this TV is going to be wasted and the repair charge could easily be many times your original investment. £150 should get you a fully working 32in Avant. With the headlong rush to buy cheap and cheerful flat screens people can't give them away nowadays.

The standby transformer outputs to the power supply board via an interconnecting cable. If you have no standby input to the power supply board then the standby transformer must be burnt out. There was a reason for ordering a complete transformer board but I don't recall what it was. Maybe the transformer alone was not available??

I have had this fault and it was indeed the standby transformer. I bought a complete new transformer board.
