My favorite turntable cartridge combo is the Beogram 1700 with an MMC20EN
Can I just echo this praise for the BG1700 and for Axel's retipped cartridges? I have 1700 with a MMC20S retipped with an eliptical stylus and there are many records, particularly early digital recordings that sound better on this combination

I have a few pieces of B&O, which unfortunately don't have the original boxes and packaging. If anyone has the original boxes and packaging (in good condition) for the following, I would be willing to pay 40 GBP + postage for each of them. Beomasters 4400 and 8000 Beogram 8002 Beocord 9000 This is nothing to do with trying to increase the value
Question: Is it because the BM 8000 had a phono pre-amp built in that it would play the BG8002 while the BM 6500 will not. The BM6500 sure seems light to be 110 WPC
Yes, the BM8000 has a built-in pre-amp; the 6500 series had the pre-amp in the BG. I'm not sure if the power rating has any direct impact on

What do you think?
Geoff, The MMC 20CL won't fit the arm on the BG 8002. It was designed for the arm on the earlier BG8000 and its predecessors
I think all views are valid. It just depends on why one buys B&O. Some people will buy it because it is exclusive and for the brand. Some buy for the design. Others will buy because it is Danish. Some buy for sound quality and ergonomics. All these are perfectly reasonable with none being the only reason one should

Hi Jaff, Nice to see you're still keen on the Quad kit. Here's a link to the specs for the 33 Preamp, which should answer your query http://www.toffsandtinks.com/shop/quad-33-specification/info_29.html Cleve

Hi Martin, The switches have been execised, but always a bit wary about cleaning the switch contacts. Some people say use contact claener, some say don't use contact cleaner - what would you recommend? Cleve

I've recently noticed the stereo balance from my BM 4400 has moved noticeably 'out of balance', in that the sound is clearly coming more from one speaker than the other, regardless of source. I have to adjust the balance control some two to three points on the slider scale to create a more accurate sound stage. I have checked this with both
