I have an enquiry from a B&O owner in NYC who needs help with his BeoMaster 5000 receiver. Soldering and measuring equipment is required, and I can back up the technician by email. I have a pretty good idea what needs to be done, just the right tech needs to be on-site. Menahem

You guys are good! That was at the height of B&O's technical expertise and reliability, and other firms were clamouring to emulate them. Nak's efforts were the best advertisement for B&O. Menahem

Just finished a Dual CS713Q Turntable restoration. TOTL in its day, and built to last. I figure that if we all like European stuff, this might land on someone else's workbench in the future. Standard recap, and of course the "steurpimpel" - I love that word - a pimple fits it just right. The automatic start/stop function is inoperative

Oh yes, and here's a pic for all the interested parties on how to connect the plug-in cables without guesswork

Andre, It's on its way back to you! All electrolytics, tantalums and potis were replaced as a matter of routine. A couple of the big 1W carbon resistors were replaced. Of course, it still didn't work. The 2 zeners on the tach circuit were shot. Once those were done, I had voltage on the motor connectors and IC3 C1003 (never did find any info

Drool, drool.... Output amplifier capacitors - 15,000uF 63V - now where can you find an amp with brutes like this in today's mini-micro market? And a fat toroidal transformer!!! Size is EVERYTHING!

Oh yes! I remember lusting after this at the dealer in 1978. I ended up buying a BeoMaster 3400 Quad - still with me today, BeoGram3400 Quad, and 2 Beovox 5702's. This beast was $1400 then - a chunk in anyone's dictionary. 2x 105WRMS @ 8 ohms. Can anyone guess what it is? And if anyone has one for sale, I'm very interested! Menahem

Here's one which I did, with regular leaded capacitors instead of SMD replacements. I use Panasonic EB, Nichicon HE, and the blue one is a Vishay BC 150RMI. All are 105 degree caps for extra-long life, and you can use any or all of these on the PCB for guaranteed operation. If you insist on using SMD caps as replacements, the Panasonic FK are quite

Whoops - nearly slipped by me This is a NEW unit 170581936772 The original post was a Refurb - don't want those - never know where they've been - corrected now. Menahem
-
Stuart, The other numbers are date codes - not important. Because you've damaged it, it might be a better idea to buy a complete CDM12.4 chassis including the motor, but without the PCB. This ebay chassis 170581936772 is at the seller from whom I've bought with no problems. I have no idea if B&O had a special chassis made for them, or if
