Yes you will need to get them updated. Take them with you, when you bay a new unit and demand a update of the old unit.

The SW is a chip, to change it you will need a special tool to take out the old SW. And it's a very "ESD" sensitive, so would recommend a tec. to do the job.

No it's not your cable, it's because DTS wasn't supported in the first surround module. So you need a SW update to get DTS.

Todays DVB-T module can show Mpeg4, with a cam module like this in SD.

I haven't looked the set is going to my dad so will test it there, but it's old B&O what cut go wrong.

Is there any sound with Dolby Digital?

Thanks for you support. Got it working last night, help it start playing and left it for an hour. now it works fine (I think as don't own any passive speakers) so properly "goosed" is going to look for dry spots and cap now it's apart.

If it's big problem for you I would suggest, an extern Ir eye for BV7. And place it on the same side as the window, or under something like a sofa, to limited the reception
