The speaker protection circuitry is fairly interesting, but I don't think B&O has published much about it. As I understand it, each driver has a thermal sensor and the control software tracks both driver temperatures and at the same time "looks ahead" at the incoming signal (that's what latency gives us!) to predict future driver

It is my understanding that the BL5 accepts any digital resolution up to 24-bit, 96 kHz. In my studio, I often have the opportunity to work at this level and the BL5s handle it fine. I do not know where the down-sampling occurs, but it would probably be prior to the DSP block. I recall that the output D-A is at 24-bit (there is simply no benefit in

Thanks to David Jennings for pulling this together, and being so welcoming. I'm really looking forward to my visit and meeting with all of you. I'm not so sure about the "genius" part of Lee's kind words, though. More like, "moderately overweight doofy working stiff who got lucky after having a good idea." I'll try

I'll try to remember! In the meantime, this link: http://www.tvtechnology.com/pages/s.0065/t.p0001.html should take you to the archive of my articles for the magazine - you may find some of it interesting Best,

I suggest you consider swapping out the 7.1 for a 7.4, which should integrate very nicely with the BL5s. As mentioned earlier in the thread, a BeoLab 9 is also viable. A BeoLab 3 would be OK (I think!) at moderate levels, but would quickly be taxed by the BL5s in action scenes - I'm afraid this might be quite audible. The more listening I've

Thanks for the kind response. Who should I contact? An email address would be great. Thanks. Best, Dave

This post is to give fair warning to Mancunian BeoWorlders that I am coming to visit your fair city at the end of January (1/30 - 2/4) and would be delighted to meet any (all?) of you, your pub or mine. If any stores would be interested, I'd be happy to do a brief talk on ALT and the development of the BeoLab 5 and family for the staff and/or customers

May all BeoWorlders score a surround rig of five BeoLab 5s and a B&O equipped Aston Martin of their choice in 2008! That's my wish! Best regards

Ho ho ho . . . from Groton, Massachusetts, USA Have some fabulous holidays and a most excellent New Year!!! My best to all BeoWorlders

This thread raises a really important issue. Architects and interior designers seem to be generally oblivious to acoustical issues, to a point where there is a college level acoustics textbook entitled "Deaf Architects & Blind Acousticians," by Robert Apfel. Barry Blesser, inventor of the digital reverb, has written a book called "Spaces
