I agree 7700 is a superb system - I'm bringing mine back at the weekend to see how it compares with S75 speakers against BS3000 and BL4000 - maywell end up using that for music and leave the 4000's as Avant front speakers. The BS3000 will then remain as part of the link system and as a CD player for the 7700

Perhaps they were designing the 5000 to be non thorens and the 3000 was seen as a stop gap?

I think the sky box gets connected to Decoder so that AV can be set to DVD. My old Avant had the same problem, in that once a Set top box controller was fitted I couldn't access DVD when SKy wass fitted. Perhaps someone elese has a better idea - it may well be that you need a software upgrade.

Hi thanks for the advice - I think what I'm going to do is go for a suitable period received (BM6000 or 4400) and use them for listening to music and forget about using them as rear speakers. I think I should be able to connect a receiver via the din plug into my BS3000 and use that for CD's. Thanks again -saved me a costly mistake! - ultimately

I have some S75 speakers connected to my avant as rear loudspeakers through a seperate amp and fed from powerlink. Front speakers are lab 4000s. I have found that when listening to music I switch to speakers 4 and turn down the 4000's as the S75s sound so much clearer and better. I can;t really move the room round as the 4000's are on the wall

I have an Avant RF VCR - connected to it is a DVD player and Sky box and I have a Lintronic box controlling an Onkyo iPod dock. In setup I have changed the varient so that it has no internal VCR and the lintronic box is connected to V.Tape socket and operates with V.Tape commands. So everything works quite well apart from one thing. With the Sky Box

Hi there I've done this and it works really well and is totally integrated as well as being able to control it from link rooms through TVs. The solution was one ONKYO iPod Doc - this has an On Screen Display and one Lintronic Box. This is how it works, the lintronic box is programmed to control the Onkyo dock. The Lintronic box and Onkyo dock are

Crikey - never thought I would see that again - almost tempted to bid on it out of nostalgia

I learnt the basics many years ago by building a radio - started of as a crystal set and then an amplifier was added - all built on a peice of wood - It was I beleive a ladybird book when I was at school. Might still be available on ebay or something. Good for learning what components are and what they do. I think there might also be electronic kits

Great, thank you - one more question - the turntable it is to go in is the original TX (like the old 6000), however temporarily I'm using a Lenco GL75 with a goldring cartridge - the sound is incredibly good - will the TX sound better with the cartrdige restored than the Goldring? - I'm having an odd time at the moment rediscovering just how
