• Re: vintage speaker selection
Simon, The S30 and S45-2 are - unfortunately - very much the same size: H: 48cm / W: 26 cm - only difference is D (resp. 18 and 21 cm) which you might not notice since the height and width is what you normally see.
There were different speakers called S30 over the years. the S30 I am referring to is significantly

Another good chpoice might be a the Beovox S30's. (the late 70's resin backed version, there were several variants over the years) They look similar to the S45-2's but they are significantly smaller and hence have a much higher WAF. They are ultimtely not as good as the S45-2's but have a similar 'warm' sound . As you are not

  • Beolink 1000

I am in need of an additional Beolink 1000 (any version) in working condition. Cosmetics are relatively unimportant as long as that is reflected in the price! I am based in the UK. Thanks Simon

  • Re: What's playing RIGHT NOW?

"Calling Card" by Rory Gallagher
Nice one...... a true genius, much missed in my house. Did you see him play live ? I had the priviledge to see the great man play 7 times - whilst not the fastest, loudest or best dressed, in my opinion he was the real deal as

  • Re: My new laserdisc. And a BC7000 to go with it?

I agree with Craig, you should go for one of the newer models in the 7xxx series as they have better connectivity. You cannot listen to the tuner on a BC7000 without physically unplugging the CD player (or any other device) from the tape socket at the front and ecventually the socket wears out. Simon

  • Re: Beosound 1 Upgraded to Play MP3

I have always thought that the BS1 would benefit from having the option to have an iPod dock built in. Simon

  • Re: I've been told these are B%O speakers...please identify

If they are in good overall condition but not mint then the going rate on eBay seems to be somewhere in the £500-700 region depending on overall condition. They would need to be in close to perfect conditon to fetch something in the £1000+ range. Simon

  • Re: B&O CD and amps for audiophile?

I have a CD50 that needs to go back for another attempt at repairing it! When it was working I did some A:B comparisons with my Philips CD650 which is a TD1541A-based player and I much preferred the CD650. The main problem with the CD50 is that it wasn't all that reliable when new and surviving examples are now around 25 years old and prone to problems

  • Re: Beovox C75's vs CX100

Pristine C75's for £15 is one of the bargains of the year, congratulations! I have the C40 and the CX50 which I guess is a similar comparison. The C40's have the edge but not by a huge margin. . Despite being 20+years old they are showing no signs of foam rot so I am wondering if the old drivers are just a bit better in that respect? Simon
