I will certainly set something up along these lines. I will use the highest sample rate possible and maybe at another time the same thing using a compressed media such as MP3. It will take a bit of time though as my current pc/software setup just doesn't have the capacity to do this reliably. Also I am away from home much of the time now due to

What I will do, when I get my pc sorted is record the same track of a couple of LP's as a lossless file from all of my decks and post onto a website with the Linky here so you can have a bit of fun comparing and saying which you/ we prefer the sound of. And without any "fiddling or cheating" let you know which is which. I will stick them

Agreed, a very flat frequency response. But figures do not always tell the full story as many "figure Perfect" CD players can prove..many have MUCH flatter frequency responses that ANY Vinyl Player but sound somewhat sterile and flat. And even with almost identical response figures sound different.

Hi all, at last a quiet 4002 and now completely stable all the time. Thanks everyone for their help and advice. I replaced the on board resistors which were a bit flaky and removed the old isolation gunge from the Motor and replaced it with a piece of thin cork. Originally the motor was getting mechanically coupled to the main chassis with the drive

[quote user="chartz"] Tell us, did you replace or clean the two speed adjustable resistors? A bad contact at the cursor could generate that sort of thing. Replace or clean those R1 and R2 adjustable resistors. Do you have any skills (like building kits) in electronics? Also a noisy motor usually is more obvious when turning without its belt
