What I found out, was that you need a shielded cat5 or cat6. The shield is actually used as the 9’th wire. The problem you are experiencing does not apply to all Masterlink units, only the beolab 3500 as far as I know.

Regards

/ULO

BeoSound 9000 and BeoLab 3500

Hi All,
it has been awhile since my last post but finally I have finished new house renovation and moved into it, there are plenty of little things to do but I have started connecting B&O.

I have problems with BeoLab 3500 connected with BeoSound 3500 using masterlink via CAT6.
I have connected two masterlink connectors on each end and spliced them using junction boxes to CAT 6 cable using wiring diagram posted here.
Here is Option the setup: BS9000 and BL3500 in two different rooms.
BS9000 Option 1, BL3500 Option 6.
Programming is done when both units in stand by mode.
BS9000: On Beo4 POWER + List -> OPTION -> L.OPT + 1
Confirmation - one blink

Bl35000: On Beo4 POWER + List -> OPTION -> L.OPT + 6
Confirmation - displays "OPTION 6"

However BL3500 displays ": ." and does respond to CD/Radio.. etc functions of the remote.
When I turn volume up - it seems to "wake up" and then shortly goes back to stand by mode.

Before I start checking each wire perhaps I'm missing something? Anything wrong I do in setup?
Is there a way of troubleshooting this?

Thanks you
