Btw, any ideas on the BC "Load CD" button problem of which i explained above? I see there is no easy way to clean the switches without taking the glass out first, but somehow that doesn't sound very tempting...

I do not pretend to fully understand the way that the touch panel works but there are NO switches under there which would require cleaning.

Most problems occur because the glass is loose and no longer in close proximity to the rubber tubes which form the capacitance (?) sensors.

The glass panels are easy to remove. Look under the left hand end of the glass panels and remove the two screws (one for each panel)

Now push the glass panels to the right about 1cm and they can be lifted off. The plastic channels which will probably be detached need to be stuck back to the glass. I have done this plenty of times with superglue with excellent results. Other, less experienced members have poo poo'd this method and prefer to use silicon mastic or double sided carpet tape. The choice is yours!

One thing is certain. You must maintain the orientation and position of the plastic channels or the repaired unit will not fit back on.

The B&O part number for the mute relay is 7600073

The relay has the following written on it.

Omron G2R-2B4-AUL and the coil is 6 volt. I obtained this one from a dealer and it cost me about £20!!! I am sure you can get them for a tenth of that if you search around.

Now you both are just embarrassing me! Martin uses the log in Dillen on site and is based in Denmark. He has a good idea of where to get parts and what they are if he doesn't have them himself. Superb knowledge of the brand and its products.

The point I was making is how totally unselfish and caring Peter is.
I don't think there are many places were someone would pull their own equipment apart to help a stranger and for no gain.

I don't know what you meant by that, but i must say I really appreciate your efforts and knowledge. It's just that i don't want to blow things up if i know i can ask first, though it sometimes makes me feel kind of dumb. :) Newbie's always a newbie.

Yes! I do have two though! Actually it is one of the big disadvantages of not having my collection anymore! I could try out most bits of equipment to make sure my advice worked! Now it is mainly memory!

Alright. I'll check mine from the inside too. You referred Martin as username right?

I did some examination on the BC9500 too and the buttons seem to have some sort of micro-switches under the glass, if im right. So may be a dust problem too...Though it seemed quite clean from the inside

I checked all the information and everything should be in order. Strange...Btw do they update the address information on credit cards, when moving? Just a thought too, but i don't live in the same address where i used to when i got the card.
I don't know if it creates any conflicts, but for example here in finland we don't use County or Region information in the address forms. Since it was required i entered the regions name, but i guess the system won't get the any confirmation for it from this end. If it matters.:)

You should be entering the address that the credit card bill is sent to - this is the address it cross-matches to..

Don't upgrade for the 5500 manual - the one we have is very poor! We do have the 6500 which is similar, but not the same!

Your card should work - but if the address given is wildly different than the one the card is registered to, it will automatically reject.

Try having a logical look at that again if you can. We have had cards rejected when people put their village in the town box, or their zip code in the house number area etc etc..

Just a thought.
