The Zektor switch that I used for several years with one of my BS1s is the HDS4. Contrary to a previous post from a B&O dealer, there is no special B&O model, only the HDS4 sold by B&O dealers at a much higher price. The Zektor is not your only solution - you can use an inexpensive manual component video switch available from any number of suppliers - see http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=101&cp_id=10112&cs_id=1011201&p_id=3027&seq=1&format=2. However, the most elegant solution is the Zektor, which operates seamlessly with the BS1 and the Beo4. Please see my previous post in this forum at http://forum.beoworld.org/forums/post/147218.aspx for detailed information as to how to set it up with the BS1. The information from the manufacturer is quite confusing, to say the least. And feel free to PM me if you are interested in the one I have available. I also have two BS1s for sale, should you be interested.

The Zektor Box is a Component Video CVS4. However, there is a special B&O version that can be ordered through B&O dealers or directly from Zektor. The price is around $480 I believe. It's a great solution. Blu-Ray, AppleTV, HD Cable/Satellite and room for one more!

Yes you can use other monitors. You'll need one that can accept either 15-pin VGA or full RGB+H-V video A pure monitor would be best. You may have to fiddle a bit with the picture geometry to get it just right. Panasonic monitors are a natural fit, as they share the chassis with the BeoVision 4, and in the stores we had great success with the Fujitsus as well. You'll almost certainly have to turn the screen on and off manually, unless there is an 'Energy Star' setting which will do it for you (a trick learned with the Fujitsu Plasma monitors).

Actually, it may not be necessary to turn the monitor on and off manually. You can use an IR flasher connected to the Projector CTRL output socket on the BS1 to control the on/off function of some monitors. I know it works with some models of Panasonic and Pioneer monitors and there may be others as well. You will also need to enter the correct two-digit code in one of the configuration menus (I forget which one) to enable the BS1 to pass the correct on/off code to the plasma. If I recall correctly, the control code for a Panasonic plasma was something like 13 or 14. Any knowledgable dealer should be able to tell you if there is a control code for your specific plasma.

There are six composite/S-video inputs on the BS1, but the Apple TV doesn't have a composite output. Perhaps you meant to say that you are using the sole component input on the BS1 for your HD converter box. If you wish to use the Apple TV component output, which is the only alternative it offers to HDMI, then you would need to get a component switch to alternate between your converter box and the Apple TV. There are many different manual component switches available, but the most elegant solution is to get a Zektor switch, as it can be operated by the Beo4 remote transparently. I have a spare Zektor switch and you can PM me if you are interested.

Hi All,

I need some help to know if I can hook up a non-B&O TV to a Beosystem1, with other B&O speakers and Beosound 4000?

Also, do I need a Beosystem1 to hook up my speakers and Beosound 4000 to set up a surround sound system?

Please help and thanks in advance.
