    Black MCP

Today I came across a black mcp at an old friends parents house. I have never seen one like this before. Unfortunatly I didn't get the oppertunity to play with it.

What system was this made for?

    Was it this one?

No. It looked just like the mcp 5500 and 6500 only totally black.

Think there was a picture on the old forum , it's not everybody's cup of tea from the comments it got  . Looked out for one for years to go with my Black BS7000 but have never come across one , could have the ally plate black powder coated on my MCP6500 , that would be close .

I does stand out but to me it looked quite dramatic where it sat.

Is it such a rare beast? Is there perhaps a proud owner out there?

    Re: Black MCP

I'd say it was extremely rare if it is what you say. I've never seen one. A couple of photo's would be most welcome if that would be possibleSmile

    Re: Black MCP

I've got one. It's only labelled as "Master Control Panel" - not as mcp 6500.

    Great!

I have never heard of a black mcp 6500 and therefor i assume that the one i saw is also a master control panel.

I remember something about "7000" being left out but i cant remember why. Is it indeed a rare edition to go with the beosystem 7000?

    Re: Black MCP

I'm pretty sure it was produced to match the black system 7000, it can't have been for the systems 5500 or 6500 as these were only never made in black.

    Re: Black MCP

It's not for sale, I'm sorry

It matches a black BS7000 perfectly, but wasn't the mcp line discontinued long before the launch of the BS7000?

Nevermind - take two Paracetamol, paint your tongue with Blue-Unction and take several deep breaths into a brown paper bag. That should steady your palpitations, now you need to start drinking heavily to help forget you've ever seen itLaughingLaughing

Generally speaking, you aren't learning much if your lips are moving.

Quite a surprice to find that it is so rare...

Lee, do you know how many were made? Was it a part of the bs7000? I thought that the MCP line was replace by the bl7000...

What would be the retail on one of these?

Hah!  When you get to my age 'hypnotherapy' is not required to help me forget.  Forgetting becomes a way...............Oh dear, forgot what I was going to say.

B&O have never released production figures I'm afaraid but there were definately not manay of these made that's for sure.

The BS7000 was originally designed to be used with the MCP6500 until the release of the Beolink 7000. This black MCP that you're talking about was produced solely for the black BS7000 although it is only a cosmetic change from the MCP5500 & 6500.

I would have no idea as to the value of this as its rarity will definatley put it way beyond normal MCP prices of around £80 - £120. As with all things it will be worth as much as someone is willing to pay - impossible to say.

    Thanks.

What a wonderful resource this forum is. I summize that those of you who have got a rarity like this should consider yourself very lucky.

Just out of interest, how many black beosystems were produced? That might give a hint as to how many mcp's are collecting dust. Smile

Again - B&O won't say but not that many black BS7000's were made.

No, the BL7000 was actually released a year or so before the BS7000 - the bl7000 was designed to be used with the BS6500. That's why my black MCP puzzles me, the bl7000 was already available when the black BS7000 was released so why would anyone go for an MCP instead of the bl7000?

The type number is the same as the MCP6500's, btw.

    Re: Black MCP

Maybe just to give the customer the option of having either one,  - I guess the MCP would have been a fair bit cheaper.....and/or selling off unsold stock of MCPs !!

    Cheers
